 During the opening ODI match against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, former Team India captain Virat Kohli performed the "Naatu Naatu" hook step while seated at slips. A similar video has appeared online and is becoming viral on social media. Recently, "Naatu Naatu" won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2023.

 Suryakumar Yadav, a middle-order player for Team India, was dismissed for a duck for the first time ever in an ODI match. In the first ODI on Friday in Mumbai, the 32-year-old was dismissed leg before wicket (LBW) off the bowling of Australia pacer Mitchell Starc. He lost out to a golden duck. In ODI cricket, Suryakumar has played 19 innings.

 At Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, India defeated Australia by five wickets in the opening ODI. In 35.4 overs, Australia was knocked out for 188 runs. In the previous 21 years, no side has scored less runs in the first inning of an ODI at the Wankhede Stadium. KL Rahul's score of 75* helped India reach the goal in 39.5 overs (91).

 India qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) final and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row after the fourth and final match against Australia finished in a dull draw here on Monday, capping up a lacklustre day of sport.
